Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) was pioneered by Citrix and their ICA protocol and was closely followed by VMware (Formerly View / Horizon, now divested by Broadcom) and Terradicci (owned by HPE). Best practice for VDI (Persistent or Non-Persistent) is to have the platform decoupled from Production environments and stress test load per type of user to improve performance and reduce risk. VDI was the first workload to be tested in Immersion in 2018 (along with Bitcoin Mining), the results were extremely pertinent.
